Jon Lough began his post-graduation career as a broker for a surplus lines insurance broker focusing on cyber, pollution, technology and media risk and management liability. He achieved his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriting designation in 2012 and moved to The Hartford as an underwriter for cyber insurance and miscellaneous professional liability insurance in 2013.
Lough, who has degree in insurance and risk management, speaks nationally about cyber risk, even returning to State in 2015 as an ethics conference speaker.
“Being involved in a similar opportunity in high school, I was looking for a program that would help continue my professional development and provide me an advantage in career opportunities post-graduation,” he said.
The program’s interview preparation, career search and practice leadership provided Lough a solid foundation to begin his career.
“I still bump into contacts I met as a Networks Scholar. Their encouragement of international travel provided lifelong memories and experiences that I still share,” Lough said. “The opportunity to meet and build relationships with industry professionals for four years in college helped me explore career options, cultivate career opportunities and established long-term networking relationships that exist today.”
