What she’s learned from being an entrepreneur: My type-A personality keeps me moving forward. Failure is not a word I like. Although we all experience failure at some time in our lives, keeping the failures at a minimum helps our outlooks.
Advice: Make sure to investigate all aspects of the industry you wish to pursue. Be prepared to make mistakes.
Hardest part about getting started? Breaking into the construction industry as a woman in the ’70s and ’80s was difficult at times. I kept my focus on moving forward and realized that quitting was not an option! I learned that believing in myself was most important!
Aha moment: Realizing and knowing that I was really good at what I did was my initial aha moment. Honesty and integrity have always been my focus; not all people share these two qualities!
